The two small tapered head screws are apparently used to adjust the tailstock gib. When the gib wears down it looks like you can make-up the difference pushing the gib closer to the ways.

Jun 13, 2014 · Don't use grease in a spindle on a lathe, replace the zerk's with oil cups,grease will attract grit, and with oil the bearings will run 3-4 time longer, and also run cooler. Not to be contrary but it is best to do what the lathe was set up for by the manufacturer. Mine is a Wabeco D6000E, German made and a highly precise tool.

Nov 28, 2014. #3. Alcohols aren't very good solvents for oils; mineral spirits/paint thinner would be better. But oil wouldn't cause electrical leakage. You could try heating the motor and seeing if the leakage decreases. That would point to the cause, if not actually fix it.
