The Aldgate School is a unique Church of England school in the heart of the City of London. Our School was founded by over 300 years ago and to this day we remain proudly supported by our trustees, The Portal Trust.

We're a one form entry primary school with an integrated Children's Centre on site. We have children attending our childcare from the age of 3 months. Our school in the heart of the City of London offers a range of services to the whole community.

The School and the Child & Family Centre are located just off Aldgate High Street. The School pedestrian entrance is in St James’s Passage, Duke’s Place. Please use the intercom to request the gate to be opened.

Admissions - The Aldgate School
Children may be admitted to primary schools at the beginning of the school year after their fourth birthday. Applications open in September each year and you will need to submit a completed common application form directly to your Local Authority by 15th January.
Our Trustees and History - The Aldgate School
The School became Voluntary Aided in 1951 and a primary school in 1966. The Foundation, now known as The Portal Trust, is the school's Trustee. It owns the freehold of the site and provides support to the school through an annual grant.
Governance - The Aldgate School
Alex has been Headteacher at The Aldgate School since September 2018 and for the 2023-24 academic year is the Executive Head. Alex has previously worked as a Deputy Head of a two form entry school in North West London and an Acting Principal in Hong Kong.
