The entire ceiling has tiles...along with the side pieces on the edges. I went ahead and refinished the tiles and they are silver now. They are beautiful.

They look great, but since they are a lot thinner than the acoustic tiles, they tend to not lie completely flush against the grid in some spots - mostly corners.

You're gonna get super dirty so wear long sleeves, hat, gloves, safety googles and a good breathing mask since you will be dealing with fibeglas, asbestos or pressed fiber board that will break apart into a zillion little filaments that you don't want on your skin or in you lungs & eyes.

I think the tiles are 12 x 12 and are glued in place and not held in place with fur strips or whatever those things are called. I have a contractor coming out next week to install two more heat vets and a cold air return in the family room.

Of the ones that I wasent involved in but know about, all the ceiling tiles that contained asbestos were white inside and relatively hard. Not soft and easily breakable.
