Scores of unexploded bombs dating from World War II have been recovered from a children’s playground in northern England after a chance discovery.

The unexploded ordnance, discovered during a site renovation, were described as “practice bombs” that still carry a charge and must be removed by professionals.

Although the devices found during construction work were practice bombs, they can be harmful. Officials said there could be more.
