Sixteen rabbits were rescued after being abandoned in a city park on April 1, according to Chicago Animal Care and Control.
One of the rabbits died and 16 were transported to five shelters across the region, where they are recovering from serious injuries and show signs of abuse, shelter staff said.
Once upon a time there were four little rabbits and their names were Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-Tail and Peter. They lived with their mother in a sandbank, beneath the root of a very big fir tree.
