Valorant has introduced Rank Shields with its latest update that add a key changed to the way Competitive is played.

The Valorant Rank Shield was introduced with patch 10.1 on January 21, 2025. The new feature will give players an extra chance to avoid falling to a lower skill group and continue their rank climb.

Valorant update 1.000.027, which is version 10.01, is now available on consoles, adding Rank Shields to competitive mode.

Simply put, Rank Shields can only protect you from a drop from tier one of a VALORANT rank to tier three of a lower rank.
