The dust layer, gusty winds and humid air will keep high temperatures from reaching the triple digits today but it will get very close.

Temperatures in Houston are expected to hit near triple digits, accompanied by persistent Saharan dust haze. While air quality remains moderate, those sensitive to dust should take precautions. Heat advisories are possible as the heat index climbs to 105-108.

Saharan dust plume that has traveled all the way from Africa is impacting the Houston area giving us hazy skies and not so stellar air quality. Air quality remains in the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" category.
