The full moon known as the pink moon begins to set as clouds roll over Mt. San Jacinto in the early morning of April 24, 2024 in Palm Springs, Calif. This month also brings a micromoon. The full moon on April 12 occurs just before reaching apogee (the point when the moon is farthest from the Earth), which happens at 6:49 p.m. Sunday, April 13.

After sunset on April 2, look for the crescent moon and Jupiter in the western sky. The duo will appear within a palm’s width of each other, according to stargazing app SkySafari. You can watch them travel in tandem through a pair of binoculars until around midnight local time, when they dip below the western horizon.

In North America, the galaxy will become visible 41° above the north-eastern horizon at around 8:30 p.m. EDT, and continue rising until it’s almost directly above around midnight. It will then sink towards the northwestern horizon as the day approaches.
