The Pulse Memorial Advisory Committee of Orlando, Florida, voted on Tuesday on a final design for the permanent memorial commemorating the LGBTQ+ nightclub where a deadly June 12, 2016, shooting killed 49 people and wounded 53 others.

An Orlando citizens' advisory board on Tuesday approved a recommended design for the long-sought permanent memorial to the 2016 Pulse nightclub shooting, even as disagreement lingered among its members about some aspects of the project.

The permanent memorial will be built where the former nightclub currently stands and is set to be finished by late 2027.
