Officials in South Africa say prosecutors have withdrawn charges against 95 Libyan nationals who were arrested at an alleged illegal military training camp in the Mpumalanga province last month

The 95 Libyans who were arrested were released and were sent to the Department of Home Affairs to be deported. The state dropped its case against them.

The White River Court in South Africa has decided to withdraw the case against the 95 Libyans detained in the illegal Mpumalanga military training camp. According to African media, the court withdrew the immigration law violation charge against the Libyans and referred them to the Ministry of Home Affairs to deal with the case administratively.

Home Affairs Minister Dr Leon Schreiber on Thursday instructed his department to proceed with speed with the deportation of 95 Libyans who were arrested in White River, in Mpumalanga. This after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) withdrew charges against the Libyans who were arrested at a suspected unauthorised military camp in Mpumalanga last month.
