Thanks to a post on social media, it's been revealed that the Skeleton Crew were almost graced with the presence of a Jedi before the scene was left on the cutting room floor.

Jedi robes were made of a material that protected the wearer from harsh environments, while in combat, these loose-fitting cloaks could be used to distract an opponent with swirling motions.
