A bus ride from Lisbon that is a must see. Seniors over 65 get a discount. The history is very rich and diversified. We were here for only a half day however if time permits spend the day. Full review by pinini753

I went in August and the Castle closed around 7pm. There was a long line to buy tickets; however, the line moved fast. As someone mentioned, there are other places in Lisbon to see a sunset.... anywhere actually. I also remember that the only form of payment was cash because the credit card machine was out of order. Make sure you bring cash with you just in case. Have fun!

I didn’t see any audio guides and they had run out of English guides on the day we visited which were very simple with a map of the castle. I have seen online that it is possible to book a guide but I think it is a private tour. If you are very interested in the history, I recommend you book a guide as we really just experienced it for the uniqueness and views but no understanding of the history. Good luck!
