I drove there, from the centre, in about 15 minutes - it was an easy enough drive on main roads - so either a taxi or one of several buses or a tram (assuming you don't have your own car as we did!) will get you there easily and cheaply enough - the car park was cheap by zoo standards for anyone driving there too. I wouldn't recommend walking unless you are into marathons as the zoo itself is a full day activity on your feet!
