We Dig Big! The Mammoth Site is an indoor active paleontological dig site and accredited museum. Travel back in time as you walk the edges of the sinkhole where mammoths and other species became trapped more than 140,000 years ago, watch as fossils are prepared and curated, tour our exhibit hall, and experience one of our summer programs. One of our favorite stops during our trip out west! What an interesting, rare site this is. The film was so informative and we could not believe the site once we proceeded there after the film. Full review by Sherpa62840354049

I would go to the Mammoth Site first which takes approximately 2 hours. If it's a nice day, have a picnic at Chautauqa Park which is on the road past Evan's Plunge. The Pioneer …

I would go to the Mammoth Site first which takes approximately 2 hours. If it's a nice day, have a picnic at Chautauqa Park which is on the road past Evan's Plunge. The Pioneer Museum on top of the hill is really nice and will take 2-3 hours. End the day at Evan's Plunge and take all the time you want splashing around.
