Vouvry is first mentioned in 1018 as Vobreium and Wovregium. Vouvry has an area, as of 2009, of 33.5 square kilometers. Of this area, 12.13 km² or 36.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 12.88 km² or 38.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.97 km² or 5.9% is settled, 0.45 km² or 1.3% is either rivers or lakes and 6.05 km² or 18.1% is unproductive land.
