We have been on a 2 week road trip down the Blue Ridge parkway and are stopping in Macon tomorrow (Thurs. Sept 3rd) for one night to do the Big House and the Rose cemetery. Wondering what we can do with our 13 year old small dog? Do you think I could carry her through the museum in a backpack because I can’t leave her in the car...

When we were there a couple of weeks ago it was very laid back. There was one staff member who was very nice. I am sure you won't have a problem. Especially if it's a small older dog and you carry her. You can also call them ahead of time. Have fun, you'll love it! Also nice grounds outside.
Hi, Michael. What would you like to know about this attraction? We are driving from Chicago to Orlando and want to stop in Macon overnight purposely to see the museum. If we arrive in Macon at 2-3PM would that allow us enough time to thoroughly see the museum before it closes. We are huge Allman fans and would be a shame to pass so close without stopping. Thanks!

Can't help you. Call the museum to see what the hours are and what time they close. It is on the pricey side.
I stayed at the 1842 Inn which was lovely and very close to the museum and other Macon sites. Staff so friendly and cones with breakfast.There are other inns in the area you could check …

As I remember it is a stand alone house and you should be able to walk up to the house and take pictures. It is unfortunate it will be closed when you are going through as it is a great visit.
