Is the area labeled "standing room" really just for standing? Or are there seats?
A:
I suspect it really is SRO. The floor is open. There are seats in the balcony. I don't have a link to the map you're referring, so it's hard for me to say without seeing what you're seeing.

Can anyone suggest Hotels to stay at close to Thalia Hall? I'm only flying into Chicago for one night for a show at Thalia and have no idea where to start looking. Thank you for any suggestions.

If you are flying in for one and attending Thalia Hall your best play is to stay at a hotel near the airport you are flying in and out of (O'Hare or Midway). There are no hotels that I know of that are in short distance to the hall. It is out away from down town by several miles in a proper neighborhood. Downtown hotels are about six to eight miles away so you'd have to cab/Uber it back and forth.
