At various times of the year, you can find free music at auditorium shores. If you google "free music in Austin" you can find all kinds of cool, free, fun stuff in Austin.

When I went, I had trouble finding parking. There is the back angled parking mentioned, but it was all full when I got there--it can get very crowded! I was able to find parking on a street parallel a few blocks back, but you might have difficulty if this is too much walking for you.
