Not a huge fan of zoos, but it free and the kids enjoyed. So, if you have free time in DC, I would say it's something worth checking out. But there are better options. Full review by Myles W

We are planning to stop at the zoo on our way to the beach. We will have a roof rack cargo container on the car. Does anyone know if there is a clearance limitation to park at the zoo?

You should be all set. School buses go in and out. Be sure to get your parking pass online before you go. You can not get same day tickets right now.
