Well if your goal is to see Whooping Cranes then the best time is from late November through March. They generally start arriving as early as mid October and move north in April …

Well if your goal is to see Whooping Cranes then the best time is from late November through March. They generally start arriving as early as mid October and move north in April but for peak viewing concentrate on either side of the start of the year. Keep in mind that our coastal winters are usually mild so it takes a bit of cold to knock down some of the grasses and reeds in the areas with birds for better viewing. There will be other migratory birds also at that time of year, geese, ducks, other waterfowl as well.

can you purchase the senior lifetime national park pass at this location? If so, do you have them available now? Will probably be there on Friday, 5-26. Do you need a 4wheel drive vehicle?

Not sure about the senior lifetime passes but their website indicates their days/times of operation & no 4WD is needed to take the tour
