The Louisville Zoological Gardens, a non-profit organization and state zoo of Kentucky, is dedicated to its mission to “Better the Bond Between People and Our Planet” by providing excellent care for animals, a great experience for visitors, and leadership in conservation education. The Zoo’s collections which include botanical gardens are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). The Louisville Zoo is also an agency of Louisville Metro Government.

The zoo here has such great ease of access in buildings and the general flow of the zoo. Would have liked to see more 'snack shacks' offering hot dogs, etc instead of just beverages. Lots of exhibits… Full review by Leanne H

I'd say go before tons of people come like around 8 or 9 and leave at 3 or 4 it's a nice experience and gives you time to eat the good food and look at all the animals and maybe enjoy …

How long does it take the average person without children to walk around and see everything?
A:
I'd say 90-120 minutes depending on how much time you spend viewing the animals. It's got a couple of hills within the park that provide a nice workout while walking.

No, I have not done the Pygmy Hippo experience. I think under the right circumstances with the right people it would be an interesting experience.

Where would you recommend to spend the night when bringing a toddler to the zoo for a day and an overnighter? Somewhere easy access and with a kid friendly pool. Any suggestions?

Residence Inn in Hurstbourne is nice - can’t recall if they have a pool though. We stay at these hotels when traveling w/kids because they have full kitchens
