Niabi Zoo is public zoological park in Coal Valley, Illinois serving the Quad Cities. Approximately 150,000 visitors a year make Niabi Zoo one of the area's most popular and largest attractions. Niabi Zoo is home to over 600 animals representing more than 200 species. The zoo's name "Niabi" comes from the Native American Osage Nation language and means "young deer spared by the hunter.

This zoo has really gone downhill. Very few animals and they didn’t look happy. Couldn’t get a drink anywhere. Machines weren’t working, and the food stand was closed. Train wasn’t running. I paid $… Full review by 175trishh

A:
The bald eagle (her name is Xena) is not able to fly. She came to Niabi Zoo from a licensed rehabilitator because her wing injury was such that she could not be released back into the wild. Xena has made her home at Niabi since 2002 and is much loved. Her enclosure has been designed to accommodate her mobility issues and she is able to "hop" about and has several favorite perches.

The zoo usually has free days in the fall sometimes late August after school starts. Last yesr it was Tuesday through Friday in the fall.
