This is a wonderful museum in an elegant mansion. The rooms are interesting and both the ground and upper floors have some nice paintings. The real surprise, though, was a lower level with a large … Full review by wac60

Great museum! It has the largest Monet collection in the world. Doesn't seem to be too well known, it wasn't very crowded. I preferred it to the Orangerie. Full review by Anne S

I tried to buy tickets on the Musee Marmottan Monet website for late Sept. 2023, and the dates from Sept. 17 through the end of Sept. were blocked off. Will the museum be closed at that time? It appears I can buy tickets at other ticket vendors online. I just want to make sure the museum will be open then. Thank you.

Some museums sell tickets only two or three weeks in advance. It appears that the Marmottan follows that practice. Although we usually buy our tickets in advance, especially if there is a special exhibition we want to see, you don't have to do that. We always see people buying tickets there and going right into the museum.

Do I need to buy a ticket ahead of time?

I am unaware of an online purchase but you can buy this combination ticket by visiting the Marmottan museum first and when you get there ask for a combination ticket with Giverny. This is a better option as the line ups at the Marmottan are much shorter. I do not advise going to Giverny without a ticket. If you go to the Marmottan half an hour before it opens you will not have to wait. You can then go straight downstairs to the basement and enjoy the glorious Monet's without the crowds. You do not have to use the Giverny ticket straight away. It is an open ticket valid for at least a couple of weeks.
