Sounds like it depends when you go. We went in February and probably spent a couple of hours there. There were lots of orchids out as well as flowers in the garden itself. Unlike Peter from New York, we didn't have too much of a problem finding the place but we took public transportation from San Jose. Bit of a challenge to find the bus but the concierge at our hotel was very helpful in telling us where it was and I think I might have used Google Maps and the instructions on the garden website So we bussed to Cartago and then just took a taxi to the garden. People were very helpful.
