Excellent self guided tour of the castle. You get to walk on every floor. Beware there are lots of steps, very steep steps but worth it. Views are beautiful from every floor. Info is written in Japan… Full review by CaribbeanS_12

The fastest, simplest, and comfortable way to travel from Kyoto to Himeji is by shinkansen via Tokaido and Sanyo shinkansen lines. There are direct service, but it depend on the time of your departure. If you missed it, you need to transfer at Shin-Osaka station or Shin-Kobe station. If you don't mind with slight longer trip, you can use Special Rapid Service on JR Kyoto line.
