There are some great hiking trails. My favorite was off of the McKittrick Canyon entrance ( gates from 8-5 ) that went along the reef. However, all of the trails we took were great.Full review by Cheryl G

Most of the trails are long, some steep. But the trail nearest the Park information center is a short, circular walk through pretty nice flora and past ruins of old stagecoach station. 1 hour. Take in the site of the mountain and visit the displays in the center.

What is the closest spot to spend the night in a hotel or cabin?
A:
We stayed in Carlsbad NM. It is a one hour drive. This allowed us to add in Carlsbad Caverns.
