From memory it was free to wander around but you could pay to have a guided tour. All money was used to continue restoration of the fort by the volunteers there. We chose to simply look around as our time there didn't fit with tour timing. Most things were easy enough to figure out or read up on but I am sure the volunteers would have a wealth of backstories to make it even more interesting.

Hi yes it is open 6 days away from 10 to 4pm it is closed Tuesdays.

Fort Scratchley is open six days a week, 10am to 4pm (closed Tuesdays). General admission to Fort Scratchley is free.

No, admission to the fort is free. There is a charge if you want to go on an underground tour of the tunnel systems used to store ammunition and to see the floor level of the gun mounts. We did not do that. There is a gift shop with items to purchase. There are several rooms that have displays that are also free.
