Any time of the year is good to travel as the sceneries varies according to each season; so your experience cannot be compared with another. However I travelled in summer. This tour can be done by yourself at a very economical rate, however you can get guidance from a local tour guide. I suggest you do that, to save time and money. I got help from “Zhangjiajie Kangtai” they are really good service providers

They have the best written information about zjj, what to see, how to allocate time, tips on avoiding crowds, how to get there, best time to visit where to stay and eat ( see my reviews), entry fees, attraction fees. We bought our ticket a little later on the first day, as it soon gets quieter after the first rush and there are plenty of easy destinations so as not to feel that the day is wasted.
