By car, not waking distance, there is the Bois de Preau, (park). This might have been part of the Chateau Rueil Malmaison. There is the Musee Iven Tourgeniev, Russian author's home with documents and artifacts of his time. Chateau de Montecristo is also in this area. Farther away, heading west, the Aqueduc de Louveciennes is a landmark. But you need transportation. This area has several mid and economic hotels.

For Malmaison the House has been restored and is beautiful all year . You go there for the house and some gardens but not gardens in winter !
