Yes, there is a landing net, they sell them, there is a loaner, and you can bring your own.

I am sure the pier employee can direct you on times. Make sure you have a fishing license and it includes catching a shark. Rules and regs are important to follow in Texas.

Does it cost to walk onto the pier and take photos at Sunset?

Yes. My parents were with my sons and I. They did not fish, but still had to pay to get on the pier.
